The Australian movie poster featured the glorious Mick Rock photo of Robin that graced the earliest piece of Times Square advertising, which is possibly my favorite image used to promote the movie. Once I’d found this I was looking forward to having it framed, but unfortunately not only are the Australian posters printed on a non-glossy lighter paper stock than the rest of the world’s posters, this one’s color registration is way off. It doesn’t show so much in this reduced-size image, but on the full-size poster everything has a prominent green outline. Sorry, Robert Burton Printers, someone was half-assing the job one fateful day in 1981. I guess I’ll have to dig out my copy of the Australian daybill and have that framed. It’s much smaller, but I’m pretty sure the colors are properly aligned.

Times Square premiere ticket, 14 October 1980

The Ziegfeld Theater was a Brutalist concrete cube in the middle of 54th Street. Inside, it was New York City's last great movie palace. Times Square played there for two weeks starting October 17, 1980. The Tuesday before that, the movie had its world premiere there, followed by a gala…

I'm going to have to temporarily abandon my mostly chronological posting order, because I've recently obtained a few items that If I'd had them previously, they'd have already gone up. Although, in all honesty, I don't know where this would go. It's a publicity still from AFD, in the fashion…

Blast from the Past

I got this photo at the same time as the Nicky hair and make up test and the preparing-to-shoot-the-excised-scene-of-the-girls-looking-for-Nicky's-father. Somehow, in my excitement over those two true behind-the-scenes photographs, since there are so very few of those, I lost track of this one. I'd digitized it at the same time,…
