Another “new” item! It’s 2026 and this is the first one of these I’ve ever seen. It’s a cassette tape meant to be played between screenings of Times Square, to promote the soundtrack. The preprinted label on the case implies that it was distributed along with the film by
Here’s the soundtrack cassette as it was released in England. I guess it’s not surprising that it uses the UK version of the soundtrack album cover, without Tim Curry on a button on Robin’s lapel. Other than that, it’s not much different from the US version, except that it has
Yes, there already is a cassette copy of the soundtrack represented here, but it’s the Canadian edition. Somehow I’ve managed to neglect to upload any of the other cassettes I’ve glommed onto, so here is a first step to rectifying that. I also don’t know why it was that the
You too might have had perhaps Robin’s only solo release, if you were a DJ… in 1981… in Belgium. The mind boggles at the series of meetings that must have occurred to result in the decision that this was a good idea. A 12-inch single of “Damn Dog”… but not
![Jackie No. 884, December 13, 1980, p. 26 reviews of the TIMES SQUARE soundtrack and the first Professionals album. Text: HOT Gossip More hot news about your pop TV and film favourites. AHEAD OF OF TIMES “Times Square" is a double album that will add a bit of everything to any record collection. The album is the sound track of the movie of the same name, and if the track listing is anything to go by then the film must be dynamite too. Whetted your appetite? Then get hold of a copy now — it’s on the. RSO label. Join the Professionals… The December 13, 1980 Jackie led off their “Hot Gossip” section on page 36 with a promotional piece for the Times Square soundtrack album, attached at the layout to a promo piece for the debut album by The Professionals, providing the extremely tenuous and only
This is the last version of the soundtrack album I have, and the one in the worst condition. I’ve seen one or two other copies and they were as beat up as this one is. They might have had their spines intact, where this one’s is completely worn away (which
The June 1981 issue of the Mexican pop music magazine Sonido contained on pages 38 and 39 an article credited to “Vicco,” but which seems to be exactly the same kind of AFD/RSO-written publicity published in English in similar magazines a year before. The article calls
Most of the “new” items that turn up now are variations of things we’ve already seen. This Times Square soundtrack ad is identical to the ones shown here, but unlike those two it’s still attached to the magazine it was published
I made another exception to my vow not to collect any more soundtrack-related items, because this one has a picture of Robin on it. It’s the UK version of the Ramones’ “I Wanna Be Sedated” single as released by RSO as a Times Square soundtrack tie-in. I might have bought
I made another exception to my decision not to collect any more copies of the soundtrack when I saw the bright red labels on this French edition. Sadly we don’t get all the text in French as well. It’s pretty much identical to the Canadian version, with the blank red
