The labelled case of a cassette EP of TIMES SQUARE soundtrack songs for use between showings of the initial run in 1980. This one's provenance is traced back to an employee at a theater in Westwood Village, Los Angeles.

Label text:

SPECIAL THEATER INTERMISSION PROGRAM

Another “new” item! It’s 2026 and this is the first one of these I’ve ever seen. It’s a cassette tape meant to be played between screenings of Times Square, to promote the soundtrack. The preprinted label on the case implies that it was distributed along with the film by AFD or RSO, or at least offered to theaters during the rental process.

I WANNA BE SEDATED
ROCK HARD

The handwritten labels on the cassette itself, however, imply that it was up to the projectionist to figure out what was on it.

I got this from someone who’d gotten it from someone who’d gotten it from someone who had worked at a theater in Westwood Village, L.A., during Times Square‘s brief run.

I don’t remember hearing this either time I saw Times Square at the Quakerbridge Mall in October 1980. Did you see the film in a theater where this played?

They aren't printed all that well, appearing to be copies of copies, which is a shame because most of…
