Just like the title says, this is an ad for the soundtrack that ran in 11 x 14 industry magazines.

The first one was laminated for display by the person I purchased it from; the yellow border may not be part of the original page. The back is solid yellow, so it may be mounted on a piece of yellow paper or thin board.

The second one was torn directly from some magazine and is printed much lighter (although the first’s darker appearance may be a result of the lamination/backing); the back is a paid ad by an artist thanking all his industry contacts for the success of his record. Unfortunately, neither side has the name of the magazine, a date, or even a page number.

I would much rather have had the actual issue of whatever it is, because music magazines from 1980 often contain all sorts of cool stuff unrelated to Times Square. But, since I have two copies of the ad itself, I’m not looking very hard for whatever they were published in.

Times Square movie poster, Australia, February 1981

The Australian movie poster featured the glorious Mick Rock photo of Robin that graced the earliest piece of Times Square advertising, which is possibly my favorite image used to promote the movie. Once I'd found this I was looking forward to having it framed, but unfortunately not…

Another UK Movie Ad

This is almost identical to the ad from my last post, which appeared a in an unknown film magazine, but it promotes the film's wide opening "All Over London from Sunday." The previous ad has the premiere date, Thursday, 15 January, so it must have been published first. Either way,…

Three photos from March 1981

I know nothing about these photos, except that they date from March 1981, and that they're owned by Trinity Mirror and are part of the Daily Mirror Mirrorpix archive. In my opinion, they're similar in style to photos that were published in Australia and presumably taken during her visit there,…
