Movie ad from a Bucks County newspaper circa. October 1980 showing times for TIMES SQUARE (1980) at several Budco theaters

I was hoping to be able to say, “And here’s one of the last post’s ad artworks in action,” but this newspaper ad from a Bucks County, PA newspaper doesn’t use any of the pieces from the two ad sheets. It uses a variation of the ad at the bottom right of page 14 of the AFD Campaign Pressbook. Either they moved the elements around themselves to make it fit, or they got one of the additional ads mentioned as available in the back of the pressbook.

I like to get the entire publication when I find something with a tiny little reference to Robin in it, but the sellers of such things have long since discovered that they can make far more money by cutting up publications into their smallest parts and selling each bit to the collectors in each narrow niche. So I have no idea what newspaper this ran in, or on what date it was published. All I have is the ad itself, and the portion of the full day’s listings on the back of it, where we find that if we went to the Budco Barn 5 we could have caught the 7:15 Xanadu and then snuck into the 9:15 Times Square… Not that I’m endorsing that kind of behavior. I’m just sayin’… we could have.

This post was made possible through the generosity of my Ko-Fi supporters. Thank you so much! Go Team RJ!!

Times Square UK Pressbook, 1980-81, pages 6-7

This is the center spread of the glossy UK pressbook for Times Square. Of the seven images circling the European logo, four are cropped from photos used on UK lobby cards (clockwise from top left, that would be One, Two, Five, and Seven). Of the three remaining: Four is a…

Another 8x10 color print marked as Kodak paper from the 1970s-80s on the back. Normally when printing an 8x10 the image would be enlarged to fill the 8-inch dimension, cropping out about 2 inches of the longer dimension, but these photos are printed to show the entire exposure. I…
